Data Optical Systems was founded as an adjunct to Data Computer Services (DCS) of Hawaii. Beginning in 1983 as a mini/mainframe computer service company, DCS provided hardware service to local Hawaiian businesses, city, state and federal governments entities. In 1984, DCS began designing and assembled personal computer systems for its customers. DCS has been involved in research and development of document image processing (DIP) technology at both the hardware and software levels since 1986, when our staff consulted, designed and installed a Document Image Processing System for a title compay in Hawaii that needed to store eight million pages of escrow documents and decided to store the documents using an optical imaging system.

In late 1991, DCS expands with an office in Cleveland, Ohio. Because the name "DCS" was reserved in Ohio, and could not be used, we established Data Optical Systems - DOS in 1992 to continue providing imaging technology services.

Through our years of research in document imaging and with our expertise in this field, we are able to deliver the right solution to fit our customers' needs. In 1992, the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, Department of Probation awarded their document imaging project to DOS. This project was completed under budget and their current document images are accessed on-line daily by city, county and state probation officers and staff.

Our production staff is trained and bonded for scanning proprietary and confidential documents. Our training personnel is knowledgeable in both document management and customer workflow. Since DOS is founded on hardware and software service, customer support is our first priority.

The mission of Data Optical Systems is to take businesses into the future of visual information processing using leading-edge technology.
